School Counseling Services
The comprehensive school counseling program is an integral part of the school environment. It is implemented by a Masters level licensed progressional school counselor. School counselors are specifically trained to address the issues within our schools that have a substantial impact on student learning. Serving as leaders and advocates, school counselors work with students, families, communities, faculty, and staff to address issues that have a substantial impact on student academic, personal, social, and career development. - Share the housing of others due to loss of housing, economic hardship, or a similar reason
- Staying in motels, trailer parks, or camp grounds due to the lack of an adequate alternative
- Staying in shelters or transitional housing
- Sleeping in cars, parks, abandoned buildings, or substandard housing
MNPS is committed to identifying and assisting students who are experiencing homelessness by:
- Allowing students to remain at. their school of origin for the duration of their homeless experience, if it is in the best interest of the student
- Arranging transportation for the student to their designated school
- Not hindering the enrollment of a student based on lack of appropriate documentation (vaccination records, proof of address)
As Cane Ridge Elementary's HERO coordinator, I work to
- Identify eligible students
- Provide with clothing, shoes, school supplies, and hygiene products
- Connect families to community resources
UniCycle is a MNPS program that assist homeless and economically disadvantaged students by providing clothing, shoes, undergarments, school supplies, and hygiene products.
During the 2022-2023 school year, CRES was able to provide over 500 items to families in need. Want to help? Clothing donations are always appreciated! Children's sizes are most needed, but adult clothing is helpful too. Please contact me to arrange a pick-up and know you are appreciated. |
